2025 marked an important milestone for the German Canadian Business Association (GCBA). It was a year defined by renewal, momentum, and a growing sense of community among German-speaking businesses in Western Canada.
With the appointment of new board members, the GCBA gained fresh perspectives, new energy, and additional expertise across different industries. Early in the year, the position of Vice President was successfully confirmed during the AGM in April, providing important leadership support to the association. Over the course of the year, the GCBA was also fortunate to fill the Events Director and the previously vacant Marketing Director positions, significantly strengthening the board’s ability to deliver engaging programming and clear communication.

Following the departure of Maya, who had served as Secretary, the GCBA is pleased to announce that Janina Beyer will take on the role of Secretary starting in 2026, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity within the board.
Another major highlight of 2025 was the expansion of the GCBA’s sponsor network. The association proudly welcomed Condor, the Vancouver Whitecaps, Sabine Just (Realtor), and the Vancouver Christmas Market as new partners and sponsors. Their support not only strengthened the GCBA financially but also reinforced its relevance and visibility within the wider business community.
Membership growth was another clear indicator of success. The GCBA experienced steady month-over-month growth, welcoming new members consistently throughout the year. This momentum reflects the strong value proposition of the association and the appeal of its vibrant and supportive network.
The monthly GCBA Connect events, held every second Thursday of the month, became a cornerstone of member engagement in 2025. These gatherings attracted not only members but also friends and partners of the GCBA, creating a welcoming and dynamic environment for networking, idea-sharing, and relationship building.
Expansion into other regions is also in full swing. The GCBA is proud to announce the opening of its Alberta chapter, with the inaugural event scheduled for January 29 in Calgary. The first steps have been successfully taken, and further expansions are planned for 2026, extending the GCBA’s reach and impact across Canada.
Looking ahead, the GCBA is well-positioned to build on this success. With a strengthened board, an expanding member base, committed sponsors, highly attended regular events, and regional growth underway, the association enters the future with confidence and a clear vision: to continue strengthening German-Canadian business ties and creating lasting value for its members.
