The Headshot Event That Wasn’t Just About the Photos
It was organized as a headshot event, with ten-minute slots, one photo per member, a simple way to update a LinkedIn profile or polish a GCBA member listing. But something else happened on that Friday evening in Vancouver.
Members of the German Canadian Business Association arrived at the GX Gift Exchange Building expecting efficiency: a neutral backdrop, a polite smile, and a link to download their image. What they found instead was a studio that felt more like a living room. Softly lit, stocked with snacks, and filled with conversation.
The portraits were taken by Ean, who brought a calm, focused energy to each session. Members stepped in front of his lens, one by one, supported by the simple intention of being seen, not staged, not over-produced, just present.
Meanwhile, Elton, the founder of Eyes Multimedia and a GCBA member, moved through the space with a different lens. He captured the in-between: Ean lining up a shot, members mingling off-camera, quiet smiles exchanged between sessions. He even filmed short video clips, giving the evening a texture that still images couldn’t fully hold.
His wife, Michelle, and their son were there too, helping guide the flow and greeting guests with warmth. It was a family effort, but more than that. It was a community effort from Elton’s family and the entire Eyes Multimedia team.
No one was in a rush to leave. Conversations unfolded naturally. Some came for the photo and stayed for the people. The buzz of connection lingered longer than expected.
We’re proud to have Eyes Multimedia as a GCBA sponsor and truly grateful to count Elton and his family among our members. Their presence and generosity made this event possible and meaningful.
Yes, the headshot event delivered professional portraits. But it also delivered something quieter and, perhaps, more lasting: a shared moment in time that reminded us how important it is to gather, to look each other in the eye, and to simply show up.
