On July 2, 2026, the German Canadian Business Association (GCBA), together with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canada and the Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Calgary, had the pleasure of hosting an exclusive Meet & Greet with Her Excellency Tjorven Bellmann, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Canada.

Held in a relaxed Stampede setting, the evening brought together representatives from Calgary’s German-Canadian and broader business community for an opportunity to meet Ambassador Bellmann and engage in direct and informal conversation.

Guests represented a diverse cross-section of Alberta’s business and community landscape, including Baymag, BUTTING Canada, Cargill, CSZ, Edelweiss Imports, First Avenue Financial, Invest Alberta, Lufthansa Technik Canada, Realty One Legal and C. von dem Bussche Professional Corporation, as well as representatives connected with the City of Calgary, the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, the German Canadian Club of Calgary and the Austrian Canadian Club.

The informal format was particularly well received. Rather than a traditional presentation or panel discussion, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with Ambassador Bellmann on a broad range of topics relevant to Germany and Canada. Conversations touched on current economic and business developments, German-Canadian relations and the experience of living and working across both countries.

Attendee feedback highlighted the value of hearing perspectives first-hand and having the opportunity for genuine dialogue.

The evening also demonstrated the value of bringing together diplomacy, business and community at a local level. For the GCBA, creating these opportunities for meaningful exchange is an important part of strengthening the German-Canadian business network in Alberta and building connections between decision-makers, businesses and community leaders.
