Our first Casual Connect of GCBA Calgary at Bow River Brewing was truly one of those evenings that reminds you why community matters. The space was filled with like-minded business owners, all coming together to connect, share, and learn from one another. What stood out most was the depth of the conversations, hearing personal journeys from immigration to building a business here in Canada was both inspiring and eye-opening.
Each story carried its own challenges, resilience, and unique perspective, making the evening feel meaningful far beyond a typical networking event. One of the most interesting parts of the night was listening to how fellow entrepreneurs navigate and experience two different cultures within their industries. From communication styles to business practices, it sparked thoughtful conversations and a deeper appreciation for the diversity that shapes our local business community.
A special thank you goes to the incredible hosts, Beatrice and Ian, who made everyone feel genuinely welcome from the moment they walked in. Ian went above and beyond by offering a behind-the-scenes tour of the brewery, walking guests through the brewing process, the ingredients involved, and the variety of drinks they craft. It added such a unique and interactive element to the evening and gave everyone a deeper appreciation for the passion behind the business. All in all, it was a fantastic night of connection, learning, and community – exactly what Casual Connect is all about. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
- Thank You, Bow River, for your hospitality.
