Stuyver’s Bread Tour with the GCBA: Inside Langley’s Innovative Bakery
Highlights from the Stuyver’s Bread Tour with GCBA
On April 22, nearly 20 excited participants gathered in Langley for an exclusive behind-the-scenes Stuyver’s Bread Tour with the GCBA. The event was made possible thanks to our board member, Jens Schuster, who initiated this insightful visit.
Our hosts for the day were Ravi Thakker, who led the tour, and Master Baker Reinhold Paulus, who generously shared his deep expertise throughout the experience.
The day began with a warm welcome and an engaging introduction to the company’s rich history and innovative approach to modern bread production.
Then, after putting on our food-safe gear—aprons and head coverings, we stepped into the heart of the operation.

A Look Inside the Facility
What followed was a truly fascinating walk through Stuyver’s state-of-the-art facility. We witnessed the full production process in real time: mixing, dividing, proofing, panning, baking, and finally, packaging.
The level of automation and precision was impressive. It was amazing to see how tradition and technology now blend so seamlessly in today’s baking world.
Expert Insights and Delicious Tastings
Throughout the tour, Ravi and Reinhold were always close by, ready to answer questions and offer detailed explanations at every step. Their passion for the craft and extensive knowledge were evident and deeply appreciated by everyone in attendance.
The tour concluded with a relaxed Q&A session. Attendees had the opportunity to ask follow-up questions and learn even more about what they had just seen.
Then came a delicious surprise: Stuyver’s offered a wide variety of their baked goods for tasting, showcasing both their quality and range. As a final treat, every guest received free products to take home, much to the group’s delight.
A Final Word of Thanks
GCBA President Andrea Basche took the opportunity to thank Ravi, Reinhold, and the entire Stuyver’s Bread team on behalf of all participants. She expressed gratitude for the chance to gain such a deep and personal look into modern baking technology.
One particularly interesting takeaway? All of the facility’s machinery originates from Germany or France—highlighting a meaningful connection between our association and the German tradition of engineering excellence.
Special thanks again to Ravi, Reinhold, and the team at Stuyver’s Bread for opening their doors to us and offering such an insightful and delicious experience. We look forward to more events like this that help us connect, learn, and celebrate innovation and tradition in business.
