GCBA Event Participation Waiver and Release of Liability

By registering for or attending any event organized by the German Canadian Business Association (GCBA), you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in GCBA events may involve certain risks, including but not limited to minor injuries, property loss, or unforeseen circumstances. I voluntarily assume all such risks and dangers associated with my attendance and participation, whether arising from my own actions, the actions of others, or the condition of the facilities or equipment used.

Release of Liability and Waiver of Claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, and discharge the GCBA, its directors, members, volunteers, event partners, sponsors, and venue hosts (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action for any loss, damage, injury, or expense, including those arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties, related to my participation or attendance at the event.

Personal Responsibility

I understand that I am solely responsible for my personal belongings and conduct during the event. I agree to behave respectfully and follow any instructions or guidelines issued by event organizers or venue staff.

Health & Safety

If I am feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of any communicable illness, I will not attend the event. I acknowledge that while reasonable precautions may be taken, GCBA cannot guarantee a risk-free environment.

Food & Beverage Consumption

I acknowledge that food and/or alcoholic beverages may be served at GCBA events.
I agree to consume responsibly and comply with all applicable laws regarding the legal drinking age and alcohol consumption.
I understand that GCBA and the Released Parties are not responsible for any illness, allergic reaction, injury, or damage resulting from the consumption of food or beverages, or from any actions taken by me or others under the influence of alcohol.
If I choose to consume alcohol, I accept full responsibility for my behavior, transportation, and safety following the event.

Photography & Media Release

I acknowledge that photos and/or videos may be taken at the event for promotional or archival purposes. By attending, I grant GCBA permission to use my image for marketing, social media, or documentation, unless I explicitly request otherwise in writing before the event.

Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the GCBA and the Released Parties from any loss, liability, or legal expenses incurred due to my actions, behavior, or breach of this agreement during the event.

Age of Majority

I confirm that I am at least 19 years of age if attending an event in British Columbia, or 18 years of age if attending an event in Alberta.
If I am under the applicable age of majority, I understand that I must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who assumes full responsibility for my participation.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This waiver shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising under or in connection with this waiver shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, regardless of where the event takes place.

By proceeding with event registration or attendance, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to this waiver.
